The head of Matheson’s Technology and Data Protection Group will speak at a major San Francisco conference on cloud computing and data protection on 5 November 2013.
The Conference is organised by the American Conference Institute. It will focus on negotiating and drafting sophisticated agreements that achieve business and technical goals while remaining compliant with data protection laws.
John said, “It’s an honour to be asked to speak at this event, one of the leading US conferences covering technology law and data protection. This is more evidence of the deepening links between Dublin and Silicon Valley and the increasing relevance and importance of European data protection and internet laws to US social media, e-commerce and technology companies which operate globally. Matheson was the first European Law firm to establish an office in Silicon Valley – back in 1996 – and this is further evidence of the success of our strategy.”
John has extensive experience in advising both suppliers and customers in relation to their prospective and on-going significant technology and outsourcing transactions and advises several of the world’s leading multi-nationals and financial institutions on the increasingly important area of data protection. He and his team typically advise in relation to systems implementations, IT outsourcing and services arrangements, cloud computing, enterprise licensing and re-seller arrangements, intellectual property and e-business. John is recommended by Legal 500 (2013) as a leading individual in the Irish TMT market. He is chair of the Irish division of the Society for Computers and Law and an active member of the Technology Committee of the International Bar Association.
